Pokemon Yellow ROM is playable on Android, Windows, Phone and Mac with GB emulators. Released in 1998, “Pokemon Yellow” was the third installment of the “Pokemon” video game series. The game was a remake of the original “Pokemon Red and Blue” games, and featured the same plot and gameplay with a few changes. One of the most notable changes was that players could choose to play as either Pikachu or Ash Ketchum, the protagonist of the anime series. “Pokemon Yellow” was also the first game to feature Mega Evolutions. It is also known as  Special Pikachu Edition.

Pokemon Yellow

Pokémon Yellow, also known as Pokémon Yellow Version: Special Pikachu Edition, was released in 1998 for the Game Boy as an enhanced version of the original Pokémon Red and Blue games. It was unique because it closely followed the Pokémon anime series’ storyline and featured Pikachu as the player’s starting Pokémon.

Pokémon Yellow Features

  • Pikachu as a Starter: Unlike other versions where players could choose between Bulbasaur, Charmander, or Squirtle, in Pokémon Yellow, players started their journey with a Pikachu.
  • Pikachu Follows the Player: Pikachu follows the player around, offering a more interactive experience. Players can turn to Pikachu to see its mood and reactions.
  • Updated Graphics: Pokémon Yellow boasted improved graphics and sprites compared to its predecessors.
  • Anime-Inspired Events: Many events in the game mirror those from the anime, including encounters with Team Rocket’s Jessie and James.

Pokémon Yellow Walkthrough

A full walkthrough would be quite lengthy, but here’s a brief overview:

  • Begin your journey in Pallet Town and receive Pikachu.
  • Travel through various towns and cities, like Cerulean City and Vermilion City.
  • Battle gym leaders for badges.
  • Encounter Team Rocket and thwart their plans.
  • Challenge the Elite Four at the Pokémon League.
  • Become the Pokémon Champion!

Pokémon Yellow Gameplay

The gameplay remains largely similar to other games in the series:

  • Capturing Pokémon: Use Pokéballs to catch wild Pokémon.
  • Battles: Engage in turn-based combat against other trainers. Win battles to gain experience and evolve your Pokémon.
  • Trading: Connect with other Pokémon games to trade Pokémon and complete your Pokédex.

Pokémon Yellow Story

In Pokémon Yellow, players assume the role of a young Pokémon Trainer starting their adventure. After receiving a Pikachu from Professor Oak, the player journeys across the Kanto region to become the Pokémon Champion. Along the way, players will battle other trainers, capture wild Pokémon, and face off against the nefarious Team Rocket.

Pokémon Yellow Pokédex

The Pokédex in Pokémon Yellow contains the original 151 Pokémon. Though Pikachu is your starter, it’s possible to obtain the other starters (Bulbasaur, Charmander, and Squirtle) throughout the game, making it a bit easier to complete the Pokédex compared to Red and Blue.

Pokémon Yellow Cheat Codes

Using emulators can provide the ability to implement cheat codes, which weren’t natively supported in the original Game Boy cartridge. Some popular cheat codes for Pokémon Yellow on emulators include:

  • Infinite Money: Use this code to get maximum cash in your account.
  • Encounter Any Pokémon: Modify the wild Pokémon encounters to find any Pokémon you desire.
  • Infinite Items: Get unlimited items like Pokéballs, potions, etc.

In conclusion, Pokémon Yellow remains a nostalgic favorite among many fans of the series. Its unique blend of the classic Pokémon formula with elements from the anime provides a fresh experience that stands out even amongst the vast array of Pokémon games available today.
